A Canning We Shall Go

Christopher visited us this week and we spent 2 nights enjoying seeing him since it had been nearly a year or more! We were really lucky that his work sent him here for training! Yay Portland!

Our stake recently purchased a #10 can canning unit for home use. We checked it out this past weekend to finish up our 50 lb of rice and some cat food. Dad is sure we need cat food so I made sure Arnold is set.
It was amazingly easy to use. You set the empty can on the white circular area, use the lever under it to raise it up to the top, put a lid assembly on and then push and pull on the long lever arm while it spins. Takes about 30 sec per can. Nice!
We finished up with 9 cans of white rice, 12 cans of cat food ( enough for 3 months ) and then some remaining sugar and white flour that we didn't have enough cans for last time. Fun and easy. We are getting very tired of making the weekly trip for moving to Camas, so we took a break doing this first.
As for moving, we moved all the rest of the items out of the garage and it is ready to rent or sell! Yay! now we just need a customer! http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/reo/894539684.html or http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/apa/894527600.html

Moving Right Along....

Seems like all we do is move and sort and lug and heft. This weekend, we moved Dad's heavy tool chests and drill press over to his garage. And he put in new shelving to hold some of the less used things like the kitty vet cage and things that can go up high. He has all his tool chests lined up now so I told him I expect great things made! With the paint job and all the neatness, the garage really looks good. Then I turned my efforts inside while Dad sorted and put away in the garage. I got the boxes in the bedroom unpacked and my pewter collection back up, at least part of it, the other holder is in the hall bathroom and looks nice in there too. We love our bedroom now!
Here is the look to the other side. I have the picture of my sister and I up on the wall that was taken when I was 7 and it matches perfectly! I always ADORED the material in the dress my mom made for that picture so it makes me very happy to see Odie and I together in it.
Next weekend, we will work on bringing over the remainder of the garage items and then for the most part will be done with the moving. Then comes the unboxing and sorting downstairs. oh fun.... Did I mention I am never moving again??

I am so tired of moving!

Well, we painted the living room and the hearth and I love it much better than the icky color the realtor had us paint it to try to sell it! And we have the TV in the Living Room now so we are actually using the room rather than having it be a "walk thru room". We will put the condo up for lease by the end of the month. We only have Dad's tools to move now!
Your pictures are all back up on the wall and that makes us most happy! You wouldn't believe the difference in the storage room. We whitewashed the walls, and painted the floor a nice garage floor grey. All the junk is gone and the food storage and such is all neatly organized. I LOVE this room now!

Becky's room is the cleanest downstairs and is the new guest room with the blow up queen mattress and Grandma Ball's dresser.
Jenni's room will be my sewing and craft room.
Kevin's room is the kids toy room. I love this room. Lori's room will also be a guest room when we get all the books put away.
Come see us now!
